an oriental twist
Sunday, April 05, 2009 .::. Bask into the nature. Pure.
very much wanted to blog about my recent activities last night but the z-monster hit me so hard, i had to hurry to sleep with a bloated stomach. i shall just recount for whatever i can remember based on my weak memory.

i remember the following stuffs:

last weekend was usual book out and then on saturday, i went for 'qing ming' at bishan, just beside rjc. it was an annual thing to do and the place was super crowded even though its one week before the actual day. anyway, the smoke from the burning joss-sticks and the incense paper is still acceptable at the place we settled down at. the other side was ohmygod. then we went for lunch at upper thomson. from then onwards it was a rush because my sister and i had to rush off to meet pattilicious for singing session! haha was very happy because i havent seen her for a long time and yah, singing too. took up the package and off we went till 7 plus and then went buying food and supermarketing. thats also when i finally finally finally bought subway for a meal. the last time i ate was... i dont know when la but its damn long ago. oh yes the day was also earth's day when at 2030hours, theres this exercise where people are encouraged to turn off the electricity switches for an hour to save the environment la. think they made an annoucement at the supermarket about their part to contribute so we rushed off to the cashier counters to make our payment. we wouldnt want to be stucked there for an hour in darkness okay. made our way home...

back to camp on sunday night as usual and blahblah i shant elaborate more as life in the army is not something so exciting to share, unless you experience it yourself. its pretty okay la, not as pathetic as before. well to me.

booked out on friday, i escaped this week of guard duty but got "awarded" one on 17th april. so sad la but i just pray hard and hope that it will be the only one i will be doing. cant stand it when it comes to guard duty because its tiring and mentally challenging la. ive done it twice when i was in bmt and wow, the experience was alright but the place they actually gave us to rest was horrible! we dont have a choice right?

woke up early saturday morning. yah its very rare that this happen when im the army plus the fact that i always "make use" of weekends to catch as much sleep as i can. okay because it was a planned activity and it was also part of my friend's farewell thing so not that i dont have a choice but i also agreed to it despite all the other reasons. trained to orchard with my friend who will be leaving for home and then to manchester for studies and got picked up by our other friend at wisma. the first welcome onboard the luxury car was, unsurprisingly, her dog named pillow. well-maintained dog which gets treated by some dog spa and salon stuffs. guess thats what rich people do now to their pets also la. hahaha, the dog is very well-groomed and doesnt smell dog stench. had breakfast at the botanic gardens and the food was pretty disappointing. the gourmet set which i ordered really lived up to its name - white asparagus. hahaha very healthy meal la. but the overall ambience and lush landscaping is damn good. we opted to indoor but made an alfresco reservation because the weather was damn humid and stuffy. it was a long breakfast.

went on to stroll around the place and by pass the orchid garden so decided to make a trip there. the place was filled with caucasian tourists, from america must be. tour coaches after coaches and they are not young couples or teenagers, mostly of age la. they must be here to smell and flora and fauna of singapore's treasured and infinite species of orchids. the weather got hotter and hotter, we ended the short tour inside. the garden is perfect for photoshots and morning walks.

cabbed down to the national museum, initially with the thought of visiting the exhibition of christian lacroix. but we gave up the idea. it was displaying those costumes he designed and not those ready-to-wear. went for a light meal at novus. the place was nice but the food is disappointing. my cream pasta was dry and the parmesan cheese wasnt very nice. they had it shreded, making it more difficult to mix with the food compared to those of powder form. i shall post up the photos once i get them from my friend. we left at around 3pm.

went home to rest before a dinner with my relatives from kuala lumpur. we will be playing host so better to be back earlier and wash up. went to the hotel they are staying and picked them up, then all the way to east coast from orchard. dinner was fantastic hence explaining why i went to sleep with a bloated stomach. the chilli crab and curry crab are damn good. the other dishes were marvellous too. strolled awhile along the east coast beach before sending back to the hotel. by the way the rooms at holiday inn is unexpectedly nice. the exterior of the hotel, lift and lobby looks damn traditional 80-90's hotel but the newly renovated room is dman cool. they have things such as lcd tv, dvd player, new-age office chairs, great interior decors and guess what? ipod dock! wow, usually hotels with ipod docks costs higher than usual but the rate that they are paying is damn worth the money. haha... so if you have friends or relatives visiting singapore, you can probably recommend holiday inn park view to them, but ignore the part on good view and better location la. there isnt any good view as the whole hotel is only like 8 floors high and situated behind cuppage, so its not an extremely ideal location for people seeking shopping at taka.

okay then we went for a drink at tcc peranakan place. was there till 1 plus in the morning. good time to catch up and listen to stories. then back to the hotel and we went home. guess they really like singapore as much as we like some other cities in the world like paris, rome, tokyo, hong kong and etc.

got to book in later again so i shall leave here for now and start packing! my switzerland brochures are here! haha shall start planning for my trip now! till then i'll be back soon with photos...
