an oriental twist
Sunday, December 07, 2008 .::. POP Soon (two days)
in another two days, it shall mark the end of my basic military training in pulau tekong. happy to say ive completed one-eighth of my national service, gained the knowledge of the drills, discipline, teamwork and all the other technical stuffs etc and lastly, meeting all sorts of different people and getting to know them was the best part. sad part i shall say it in the later part. seriously, the three months thing wasnt easy to pass and neither was it too difficult to get through. anyways, the next book in will be the last time we will be doing it together and thereafter we will be bidding farewell to one and all. im really glad that ive met this bunch of friends and they will most probably be one of the best la.

for the past one week, we have been rehearsing very hard for the graduation parade aka GP in short. its tough, really really hectic. you stand under the sun and get drenched in the rain, under any circumstances we cant move a single bit. we got to keep still and wait for the whole thing to end. there are quite a few parts to the parade, pretty much like those you see in ndp (especially the music played by the band). the parade will be a few hours after the 24km route march. yes, both are on the same day and i pray everything will go smoothly for all of us.

oc night was boring. we didnt have any "interaction" with our oc sir. treats were salty chicken wings, eclairs, chips and keropoks plus drinks. very unhealthy provided that we havent been doing much exercises. oh well. then there was the soc test - final rundown. i dont want to mention about it anymore. then there was recruits night on wednesday. the theme was 60 secs of fame and each company had to send a team from every platoon to perform. other company won - raven the conducting company. anyways, the music and drama company was damn good. i like the beat-boxing and the singing part. yes, beat boxing was superb hes like a musical instrument la. then on thursday there was games day. sadly, it rained suddenly and some of the games were cancelled. but this time we didnt lose as bad as what the previous batch did. we got seventh this time i guess, hahaha we were the conducting company somemore!

almost everyday was rehearsal in the morning or afternoon. not enough sleep, we rushed here and there, we ran and marched like theres no tomorrow and we repeated every single step one by one. oh man... i hope the hard work we put in will pay off on tuesday. my friend got the company best recruit, although an expected result but still we are proud of him. this will pave way for him to becoming an officer cadet in ocs. then there was the very very shocking and unexpected platoon best. we never knew it would be him but its fine since it has already been decided. it doesnt really matter that much because i think everyone did their best.

got to book out at 10am today, being the first company. we had to go for rehearsal again (for wet weather) and competed singing against other companies to fight for the first departure. we won!

next up will be booking in at 1530hours on monday and then getting prepared for the 24km route march and parade. then it will be the end of the bmt chapter. where will i be posted to next? i just hope it will be something good.

todays my 20th birthday and i bet many may have forgotten this day. how did i celebrate it last year? working my ass off during my internship!!! hahaha... will be going for my cousins wedding ceremony later in the afternoon, she will be holding her wedding dinner at the regent. its coming 10 over years since ive been there and since our family had a wedding at the same venue. it was 1992 or 1993 then. and then my birthday dinner in the evening. this will be the best time for me to catch up with my cousins, if they turn up.

alright i got to go now and shall update again. there are so many things ive missed, id better run after them. laters =)
