One of the newest properties under The Ritz-Carlton Brand. I find the architecture really astonishing and unique. Well, you may say that it looks more like an office building but isn't that how modern superstructures look like today? Nowadays, they even have hotels built on top of office towers that soar as high as 60-floors. Looking into the future, not just the world, Singapore is also moving ahead of others with the Integrated Resorts and all those proposals that are out there grabbing up the "golden" districts.
For example, the newspaper I read last week has a huge advertisment that shows a Sentosa Cove condominium property being SOLD-OUT. Can you imagine this where each apartment is priced above millions and it's all sold out? People now are getting more and more affluent and I shall just envy them. Not just this, the same advertisment thanked the buyers for their support and wrote "to look out for another project named, The Quayside Isle Collection", in which this comprises of retail, entertainment, residential and a brand new Westin Hotel in Singapore after the previous Westin Stamford & Westin Plaza (now known as Swissotel The Stamford & Raffles The Plaza). Before all these came the world-renowned 6-star hotel brand settling in Tanglin Road, opening in October 2007 is the St. Regis Hotel and Residence Singapore. It was a super wow to the future Singapore land.
Well, the reason why I blog about these because they might be future opportunities for me should I continue or join the hospitality industry in the future. People tend to relate us to this, "So I guess you will be joining the IRs when it open right?" Haha, to me it might be a no-no and I have no reasons to it. Perhaps I'm just not really interested in running a hotel associated to a casino. Or I am affected by those suicide cases in Genting Highland hotels. It's scary to see the number of people committing suicide there, mostly after losing money in gambling.
Till today, I am still interested in what I might be doing in future but will that passion in me last long? I guess most probably because I started loving hotels since young. I even placed working in a hotel as part of my wishlist during my O Levels period and I fulfilled it. I know, that's a bit extreme and ambitious until I listed out which hotels I want to work in after the exams. But I really do enjoy working in the two hotels even though we had to encounter difficult guests. Afterall, the guests are there to make us improve.
Charmaine told me she saw this lady whom we served at Marriott back in 2004-2005 and I will always remember once when I serve her and I giggled even before having the first word out of my mouth. Many fun experiences we had, especially when we meet celebrities. It's countless at Marriott! Here's a brief list, I might miss out some. If I can remember more, will list them out again. :))
