an oriental twist
Thursday, September 21, 2006 .::.
Anyway, I'm finally back like a week later or so to update. Well, as you all know I've been rather "busy" with the Singapore 2006 event at the airport. And finally everything concluded today, with a sudden notice, that we need not report to work from tomorrow onwards. Hmm, I have no idea if I should hurray or feel sad over it.

The time spent there was, well not like we can achieve any thing, but we got to see real important people such as ministers from abroad and such. The first few days were damn boring and we had to freaking stand while watching the others sit on the comfy sofa/couch. Played those lamest games which managed to let time pass so quickly. Some played all time-favourite Bingo! Sudoku, Murderer and it goes on. That was the only way to keep ourselves occupied for the non-peak period. Other than that, we explored around the airport during breaks by running from one terminal to another. Tried on the Osim i-Squeeze which sure had effect on those poor legs and the Osim massage chair. It was all too good to get paid and you enjoy at the same time. Even though the midnight shifts were rather shitty in the sense that there will be a period when there will be nobody at all, and you just have nothing to do. Eating Subway, Mcd and Burger King is real heaty. I had that for the past six days straight, can you imagine???? :(((((( But good company makes the night fun and enjoyable.

Other than eating, slacking and talking at the lounge, got to know quite a number of peoeple. Errr, not that I've gotten the contacts of every single one but they were also the one who helped to make the place look crowded, kept us occupied and entertained. Seriously, Terminal 2 looks like a ghost town when there are not arrivals and everyday we see Singapore Airlines and SilkAir cabin crews. The other eight airlines are like, not landing at all?? Hahaha, I have no idea, but I've seen M'sia Airlines once and theres one which I think would either be Air Canada, if not Austrian Air. Anyways, there are a couple of nice people there from MFA and the NS people. Many many funny things happened.

Playing the Xbox was sort of like a must-do thing during break time and will always wait for the tourists to finish using. And the internet services there were good, that's why you see me online for awhile and off I went. What else? Window shopping was also another thing and yes, we window-shop sometimes even though we get to enjoy staff discounts. I intended to buy some stuff back on the last day but couldn't as we were told that we needn't report back tomorrow. So all I got was this bag of chocolates. Hahha.

Going for breaks was good because like I've mentioned we walk from one terminal to another because the skytrain actually stops at 1.30am. We counted the number of travellators to reach T1, it was 6 and it takes about 15 minutes if you walk on it. Hahaha, now I know what time the shops open and close. See! This shows that when we go holidays, we just pass by them and never really take a close look at them. Now I know why Changi Airport tops the chart each and every year.

Okay, there is this place but I'm not sure if the public can go in but all I know its a club. Really beautiful place with really nice furnishings and interiors and they serve cheap food. But too bad I didn't manage to take a shot of that place. Actually have lah, its a photo of my friend so.... yah like no point right? Hahah, I was pretty surprised by that actually.

Now that the whole event has ended, I guess I have had a great experience not just serving the VIPs but also the many discoveries in the airport, working at the airport for once at the age of 17 still and I've been hoping I could work there one day when I go for holidays and getting to know fantastic people. Tiring yet fun, something I will always remember. :))))) I shall go create an album online and share the photos with all. It will be up as soon as I've gotten all the photos.

Finally..... Cheers to all at Terminal 2 South Wing, S2006 IMF-World Bank VIP Lounge! Thanks for making the best working experience.
