an oriental twist
Wednesday, January 04, 2006 .::.
on my way to attachment on tuesday morning, which was the first day of school reopening, i saw many many many students either having a grumpy face if not sulking all the way to school. and seriously, i didnt know nowadays students go to school as early as 7am or taking a train ride one and a half hours before they are supposed to report to school. assuming that the reporting time is 7.30am. i was pretty shocked to see a whole lot of students at my station waiting for train at both sides, towards jurong east or marina bay. and it was only like fricking 6am.

during the journey, people from different schools just drop and alight and only stopped when its at, lets say newton. i can practically remember and list down which schools students i saw on the train and amazingly, majority of them were from top schools. well, some might not be as top as you think but definitely much better than a school with an express aggregate of less than 190. and here goes the list (the intention to do this is because i need some time to think of what to type next)...

- anderson secondary
- st nicks
- chij toa payoh
- raffles institution
- raffles girls'
- anglo-chinese br
- spore chinese girls'
- cedar girls'
...and some of the other better schools but unknown ones

to add on to that, i recalled back to how my secondary school life was. like back on the first day, the first thing to do was to catch up with friends, slack really alot, ice-breaking with the teachers and the issuing of the timetable and count the number of days the subject has for the week.

anyways, my attachment can be considered good and bad at times. when we work with the right people and has those kind-hearted and generous guests, that will make your day. and vice versa, when we work with the not-so-right people and those fussy and cheapo guests, the day can just suck like shit. but then this made me think back one of jamie yeos entry. she said that a person makes his or her day. take for example the one i mentioned above. if your day suck like shit, you can make it better if u dont think its suck and likewise, if your day is good, you can make it suck if you dont think its good. it actually works with your mind and personal perspective to make the type of day you want to have. but of course there are pessimist in this world will just think that if nothing good happen for that day, it sucks.

i remember my trainer telling me that when you work with someone, you can see the true colours of that person. no doubt it is true and that is why friends become enemies and such. some of my foreign friend whom till now ive worked with are much to the aggressive type. whatever they do, they think its right and will not heed any piece of advice from anyone. and that might lead to a slower learning process for them i guess, thus they work the way they were taught and nothing else.

morning shift is a good thing because you can go shop for the things you want, but i think this time is the laziest one. previously when working at ritz-carlton, i could go shopping at marina square, suntec or even be so hardworking to walk to raffles hotel. but if you were to ask me to go shopping, it might only be 10 mins. maybe i shall try going to marina square or millenia walk because they have free shuttle service. muahahahaha.

oh yes, before i forget. chinese new year is coming at the end of this month and the good news is that i dont have to work for four straight days. okay, dont bring in school and stuff. by right if there isnt any holiday or eve coming, we have to work even on saturday, but this time we are excused for that because some of us need to go back home for reunion dinner. sale for chinese new year goodies are out at marriott. those bottles have changed to become non-wooden cover and some new items are out this year. and i want my yu sheng from wan hao again this year! super duper nice with real amount of ingredients and damn nice.

and my biological clock will not be working very well because the wake up time changes every week. this week morning, next week will be afternoon and blahblah. i just feel so sleepy every single second.

alright, im going back to school tomorrow. it was said that the school is having orientation for the new intake of those certificate, pastry baking and culinary students. somemore they say victoria jc is in our school for some stuff. bahh... why the hell are they visiting the school when they are like already doing fine in jc and...... whatever. i shall see what happens tomorrow. laters.
