summarising up the last week of the year 2005 and then i shall continue with recollections.
monday (26/12/2005):
it was a public holiday and i met up with charmaine and annie to shop around. the main purpose there was to collect my pair of jeans after altering. not much shopping except for looking around for charmaines shoes. she had been whining and nagging for that pair of shoes she saw from ebase, and we found it. however she didnt like it after trying on it for like ten minutes. while waiting, one huge lump of dust from ebase wisma came falling onto my shoulder and i walked around wisma not aware of that little patches of dust on my back. it was awfully disgusting to walk around like that. had early dinner at food republic and tried the korean cuisine. it was pretty nice but the soup sucked. tried very hard to shop for clothes at topman with the fifty dollars credit in my topman card but i couldnt find anything of my liking and somemore it was sale season which goes saying that theres alot alot of people.
finally we wanted to make our way to marina mandarin for the waffle ice cream but it was no longer available after the renovations. so we got convinced by annie to have milkshakes at marriotts crossroads cafe. settled there and we saw wonderful wani, adam and oh-so gorgeous viviaaaaannnnn. haha. had some food and left for home.
tuesday (27/12/2005):
was called back to school for some help to make it sound better. we served the singapore flying college trainee pilots for lunch and i almost got called behind for the wine tasting with them. oh my, i made my escape after being one of those who went to clean the pantry of the training restaurant and exchanging the wine opener for the teacher with someone else. was quite retarded to interrupt the wine tasting lesson for the pilots twice just because i wanted to go home early. read some magazines at the library and back home.
wednesday (28/12/2005):
the start of my first attachment day. i was put in the kitchen to help out the flow of the food and the orders. quite fun actually but it was like sauna there. helpful kitchen trainees and chefs. the bread corner was real fun just that the screeching sound from the bread warmer was irritating. but all in all, the first day was pretty good.
thursday (29/12/2005):
second day of work and i was the runner. my job was to get food from the kitchen and then the waiter or the captain will serve them to the guests. for this i have to say everyone went to the extra mile and to go beyond their jobscope. we helped one another and everything went so smoothly. i managed to learn quite alot. it was very tiring though.
friday (30/12/2005):
oh my, i was the captain and knowing that i might not be able to do a good job, i knew this would happen. i screwed up a little for the my first guest. like why the hell did i tell him lamb loin is accompanied with sambal chilli or hollandaise? haha, it was lame. anyway, more started to come and my waiter and runner helped quite abit here and there. i almost had a quarrel with my runner as hes a nepalese. he couldnt understand my english, dont know if i speak too fast or my english is super lousy. but i think the former is the reason as to why okay. whichever cos he can just stand there for the holy fifteen minutes to think of which set of cutleries are for the appertiser, soup and main course. and other than doing something more important, he just walks around holding that water flask on his hand. but things were better at the end. btw, someone celebrated her twenty-first birthday at the restaurant with some thirty over guests. some fussy and cheapo people. they packed the party packs back home. and there were quite a number of guests birthday today.
and here comes the new years eve entry...
recalling back, 2005 was a really fast fast year. i mean you can actually see how fast things pass by you and just slip off without knowing. for the first half of the year, almost everyday was spent working and enjoying life. the heartbreaking Os results came stabbing into my heart and even till now, i regretted for not paying enough attention in class. and i learnt a lesson not to wish anyone goodluck before exams or pray too hard for others. haha, not really to the extent of 'not at all', but it seems that all my luck went to those i wished and prayed for. for instance, i prayed for quite a number of my friends and they are now in prestigious junior colleges like anglo-chinese. ive also wished my friends and they are now in polytechnic enjoying their favourite courses or those top-choice courses the school offers. and for me, its considered not a bad choice as im now doing what i want in future. maybe the school gives the impression that its some lousy school but what it provides the students with are things and knowledge you cant get in any schools. something exclusive you can say.
so working life at Singapore Marriott Hotel was great with starting the start of year 2005 there, chinese new year, valentines day and etc. really good experience which will help me in the future or even now and also people ive met are kind. then was working at Burberry shaw. although the store there already closed and the time spent there was not as much but bits of memories still stay there with those people ive worked with and it was another good working experience.
and after leaving Singapore Marriott Hotel, i had a change of job environment at singapores best hotel and one of the top ten world's best hotel, The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore. the culture ive practised there, the things ive learned there were of good use. like lets say the culture of The Ritz-Carlton, i guess it is really good and can groom someone to be Someone. people ive met there and got to know of were good. well, not as close to the management people there as compared to those at Marriott but it was all good to work there and interact with a different category of guests. Singapore Marriott was more to locals and a few tourists, but at The Ritz-Carlton, it was to the in-house guests and VIPs. was quite honoured to have seen some delegates and one or two sports people from the united states to represent their country for the 2012 olympic games bid in july this year. and also was in one big event like the launch of the Nokia Connections Marquee and the exhibition of the nokia's n-series phones and a few other futuristic phones.
july was into a new school with new friends and environment. the place didnt satisfy me alot but whatever ive learned there will be of good use in my career in the future. and all the way till now, i guess i didnt regret joining this school except hating it for the location, size and some other factors.
a few breakthroughs which i shant elaborate too much on because it will be endless. like one of which is going for a holiday thrice this year, having worked at three differently established organisations, fulfilled everything ive wanted to do in my "After Os Task List" made during 2004 school days and etc. it was a all too good year. ive put the sad things and not-so-happy things behind and looking forward for a good new year.
so on this last day of 2005, we shall forget about unhappy things that have happened to us and usher the new year with happiness, joy and love. may God bless the world and all of us. cheers and happy holidays! =)
and to add on, ive stayed in my house for already 5 years. see how time slips off?
