an oriental twist

woo... im finally back after so long. haha, well i hope this entry wont get eaten up cos it might be a long long one.

my holiday trip to japan was damn great. fantastic country. its more than an EXCELLENT word to describe. probably the best place to visit other than korea and australia.

spent 7 days there, where one day was cheated cos we took the night plane over to tokyo. worse thing was that i was running a slight fever the day before we set off. fortunately that i recovered the next day. went in a group tour of 45. many people. took the all nippon airways flight, nh 902 at 11 plus to narita international airport, tokyo. domestic flight from tokyo haneda airport to osaka kansai airport.

reached there in about 7hours and 12mins i guess. the weather was of cos damn cold. not sure why cos its already spring time. anyways, moved to various hotels in that 6 days in japan. took domestic flight from tokyo to osaka. and the shinkansen line (japans bullet train).

in fact, 6 days seem a short trip, but went to many places. from tokyo to osaka to nagoya. and of cos the mt fuji. road journeys were the worse cos from one destination to another will always take more than an hour. to mt fuji, we took about 8 hours, which i dont know why the coach is turning here and there. it was sick. but when we reached mt fuji, theres still snow on the high grounds. damn fun and cold.

visited places like those temples, sightseeing, sakura parks, shopping areas, disneyland. it was a great time there. took the local trains, like our mrt.

japanese are very polite and welcoming. i felt so at-home when im there. to every place you go, the people will greet you with a wide shiny smile. even if you dont buy things from them, they will say, thank you, and smile. over small things, they will say sorry. the feeling is nice.

bought some stuff back. things are expensive there. taxi fares are so expensive. when you board the cab, you have to pay erm, more than 600 yen. even a small packet of chestnut you can get a pasar malam, it costs 500 plus yen there. btw, 100 yen is about S$1.50 and 1000 yen is about S$15.

the products there are packed so nicely and attractive. very exquisite and beautiful designs. when you buy it, you wont even want to unpack it cos its really beautiful. even paper bags, its damn unique. drink bottles like fanta, qoo, coca cola are made aluminium bottles. the tako pachi is so much nicer than singapore. crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. alot of seaweed. finally got to taste it. the ramen is very "Q" and nice. food there is good too!

disneyland is damn big. they got places divided into fantasyland, westernland, toonstown, tomorrowland and so on. very big and beautiful. tokyo disney resort is a family play area. the admission ticket is about a hundred bucks. very expensive right? but it includes all the rides in there.

they got the new disneysea. but i heard that there wasnt many people there cos its still new and not many rides. didnt get to take any rides at disneyland. too many people, queues everywhere. people are even queueing up to buy those popcorns in those disney character buckets. they have to at least wait for an hour to purchase. phew, i got mine when i went back. got it only like after 1 hour 10 mins.

many interesting things happened in japan. people in japan arent dressed like how people describe. very "jing bao". they are dressed like us. just with much dressing sense than we do. and those jap-style in singapore are definitely not real. talking like those irritating "ish, nehx, worx" and whatever arent japanese kinda thing. err, i admit i dont have any dressing sense cos i dress that badly.

oh yes, they dont have many fat people around. maybe cos the food they eat are of less oil. really. their yoshinoya are open 24 hours daily, special menu in mcdonalds like teriyaki beef burger. no chilli sauce. haha. weird.

i only managed to get some hard rock cafe tees at nagoya and tokyo. visited their daimaru and isetan.

actually there are many other things that happened but i kinda lazy to type it all. i can tell you verbally and show you the photos. im just too lazy to type out all.

and erm, these are the hotels i stayed...

day one: sunroute kansai airport hotel

day two: hyatt regency osaka

day three: grand hotel nagoya

day four: yamanakako new star hotel (this is the hotel that faces the mt fuji. view? great!!)

day five: new takawana prince hotel

alright, when im free, i'll show you the photos. only pictures can say more than words. haha, what a description.

im back to work at marriott. see you there.

another thing, ive reserved a high tea with maine at greenhouse at the ritz-carlton millenia! haha, so happy!

*any spelling, grammatical, vocabulary mistakes are much regretted cos its been a long time since i last touch my keyboard. oh man.... arrggh..
